Our Story
We purchased Fountain Farm in 2018 with a vision of restoring a forgotten dairy farm in Hancock, Maine, and bringing it back to life. Inspired by the market gardening methods of Eliot Coleman and Jean-Martin Fortier, we became students of organic farming and began transforming the land into a diverse, year-round market garden.
Today, Fountain Farm is home to five greenhouses, more than 80 varieties of vegetables, and an expanding collection of berries, orchard fruits, and perennial plantings. While our farm has grown considerably over the years, our mission remains the same: to steward the land responsibly, nourish our community with exceptional organic food, and leave the farm healthier for the generations that follow.
Clark Fountain
Clark Fountain is the owner of Fountain Farm and oversees the farm's daily operations and crop planning. Drawing on his background in permaculture design and years of learning from experienced organic farmers, he specializes in crop rotation, soil stewardship, and year-round market gardening. Raised on Mount Desert Island, Clark returned home to Maine to build Fountain Farm and raise his family. Outside the fields, he is an accomplished oil painter and studied art at Western Colorado University.
Jordan Fountain
Jordan Fountain is the co-owner of Fountain Farm, where she oversees the farm store, marketing, and community outreach. She holds a bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Relations and is a trained Waldorf early childhood educator whose work bridges organic farming, education, and environmental stewardship. In addition to farming, Jordan is a writer and the Community Director of Engagement at Rêve En Vert, where she advocates for conscious living, regenerative agriculture, and supporting local food systems.
Supporting local agriculture is imperative to the future of our communities and our food systems. Supporting family owned and operated farms is the next step in ensuring we have healthy food for tomorrow.
We proudly employ a diverse background of farmers & community members
